AP Statistics (2024-2025 School Year)

Richardson High School

Instructor: Vanessa Contreras

Course Description

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes: Exploring Data: Observing patterns and departures from patterns; Planning a Study: Deciding what and how to measure; Anticipating Patterns: Producing models using probability and simulation; and Statistical Inference: Confirming models. Upon conclusion of this course, students are expected to take the College Board Advanced Placement exam for AP Statistics. AP Statistics does not prepare students for the SAT/ACT Tests.
